OVERVIEW OF A UNISOFT LIBRARY
Inserting Operation instructions, costs, time, etc.

A Unisoft library is a simple text file that is tab delimited and you can have as many libraries as you wish. Libraries are completely optional however their use is recommended to save time, etc.

Libraries are a way to store information for reuse such as Operation instructions, costs, time, etc. For example an electronics contract manufacturer may want to have a library for each customer. Also you can have libraries for specific departments or functions for example for assembly, test, inspection or hyperlinks to process procedures, etc. Below are a few Sample Library files that illustrate these.

--Sample Library - Assembly instructions with costs     https://www.unisoft-cim.com/sample-library_assembly-instructions-with-costs.html

--Sample Library - Slide line assembly instructions with costs     https://www.unisoft-cim.com/sample-library_slide-line-assembly-instructions-with-costs.html

--Sample Library - Polarized electronic component inspection https://www.unisoft-cim.com/sample-library_polarized-electronic-components-inspection.html

--Sample Library - Line balancing for assembly machine or operation assignment     https://www.unisoft-cim.com/sample-library_line-balancing-assembly-machine-assignment-for-assembly-programming-export.html

--Sample Library - Hyperlinks use for assemby instructions, data sheets etc.     https://www.unisoft-cim.com/sample-library_hyperlinks_use-for-assemby-instructions-data-sheets-etc.html

--Sample Library - Warehouse part location for kitting, etc. with costs     https://www.unisoft-cim.com/sample-library_warehouse-part-location-for-kitting-etc-with-costs.html

--Sample Library - Assembly cost by part number     https://www.unisoft-cim.com/sample-library_assembly-cost-by-part-number.html

--Sample Library - Test ATE flying probe etc. instructions with costs     https://www.unisoft-cim.com/sample-library_test-ate-flying-probe-etc-instructions-with-costs.html

--Sample Library - Feeder, nozzle assignments, etc. for assembly machines     https://www.unisoft-cim.com/sample-library_feeder-and-nozzle-assignments-for-assembly-machines.html

--Sample Library - Part shapes for assembly and AOI machines, etc.     https://www.unisoft-cim.com/sample-library_part-shapes-assembly-and-aoi-etc.html

The library file can have any extension, sometimes it is referred to with a .OPR extension but it can be a .TXT, etc. and it does not matter because it is a simple text file.

There are 3 fields in the library file separated by a single tab.

381200-40-1 Hand insert - Connector 0.50
385848-05-6 SMT Insert - Juki 0.12

The first field is the Part Number and it is a mandatory required field. You can have as many part number line entries in a library as you wish. The second field is not mandatory and the data in this field will be inserted into the OPERATION field in the Unisoft software when there is a match between the part number in the library file and the part number on the PC Board.

The data in the second library field can be most any type of information such as text or hyperlink. Examples follow:

The third field in the library file is a number field and is optional.

381200-40-1 Hand insert - Connector 0.50
385848-05-6 SMT Insert - Juki 0.12

The number data in this third field will be imported and used internally in the Unisoft software when there is a match between the part number in the library file and the part number on the PC Board. These number(s) imported into the Unisoft software are used for various internal calculations and for report creation. For example assembly cost, assembly time, parts cost, etc. It simply a number so it can represent money in dollars, pesos, yen, etc. or it can represent time.

The figure below is an example of how the number data imported from the third library field is used to calculate PC Board assembly or parts costs.

Unisoft libraries can be created or appended using various methods for example a simple text editor can be used in the data entered manually. Or the data can be in a Microsoft Excel file and then exported to a Tab delimited text file.

Another method for creating library files is the Operation field can be edited directly on the Unisoft display and then that information can be saved to a new library file or appended onto an existing library file.
